Friday, May 7th, Berkman teamed up with local non-profit Mama’s Kitchen to host their annual culinary and social extravaganza, “Mama’s Day.” Mama’s Kitchen is the only non-profit organization in San Diego that delivers 3 meals a day, 7 days a week to San Diegans living with AIDS/HIV or cancer. Nearly 1,000 guests, chefs, volunteers and staff attended the19th annual fundraiser, held at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla Aventine, all with a unique opportunity to sample dishes from 71 of San Diego’s top restaurants. Among them was Martin Gonzalez, the Tuscan cuisine visionary behind San Diego’s hottest Italian restaurants Acqua Al 2 and Toast Enoteca & Cucina.

The elegant scene drew the “who’s who” of San Diego, all contributing to the success of the night. Local television personality and published author Sam “The Cooking Guy” Zien was one of many notable attendees enjoying the exceptional selection of food & drink. Thanks to Sam, and the others in attendance, Mama’s Kitchen netted over $168,000 in proceeds that will continue to feed those in need…making it the most successful Mama’s Day on record.
